Gloomy Kitty April Feature

Hi! My name is Sophie, but I'm known as Kitty in the Simming community. I'm 26 years old and a mother to 2 beautiful cats, and yes, I'm cat crazy. Originally from the UK but now living in Uruguay, my Spanish is something left to be desired. My partner and I have a small business here, where we work from home, so I get to play the Sims more often than not. I'm crazy about Sims, it is my escape from the real world. Other than playing the Sims, cooking and gardening are few other interests of mine.

I've been a Simmer for around 15 years, my brother me bought me The Sims Bustin' Out and I've been hooked ever since. The Urbz was another game I really loved to play from The Sims franchise, it's a wish of mine that The Sims team will bring out a new version of that someday. The Sims helps me a lot in many ways, if I'm having a rough day. The Sims is one of the few things that makes me feel better. The game really puts you into a creative mindset, whether that be making a Sim or thinking up how you want to go about playing your game. There are so many different routes you can take. When it comes to gameplay, I try to play differently with each of my saves. Sometimes I'll have a regular family going  about their day to day life, other times I will play with a promiscuous Sim that goes around getting married, then killing off their spouse and on to the next. Occults are probably my favourite type of Sims to play, I especially enjoy playing with mermaids because they are just so pretty! There are so many challenges out there that Simmers have created that I am yet to play, I'll get to trying out some more eventually.

My favourite Sims game would have to be The Sims 4, it may be lacking in some areas compared to the previous games from the franchise, but I am in love with the CAS. You can create anyone or anything you want, and really make it your own unique creation. My favourite thing to do is make Sims, especially when I take the time to create a real person or character, this game gives the ability to make a Sim with such accuracy. I don't think I could ever get bored of making Sims, the possibilities are endless.

Quitting Sims? Never! If I had to quit playing the Sims, there must be something really wrong with me. Either I died or I've been abducted by aliens! On a serious note, the one reason I would possibly stop playing would be if future packs are being released with less and less content for the same price and it's clear the devs are milking us for our money. Hopefully, that won't be happening and if it does I'd still probably play older versions. I often have a few months break from Sims but I always come back to it. I'd like to think I'd be old and grey, still playing the Sims.

I've already expressed my love for Sims 4 CAS, it really is the best part of the game for me. Thinking up characters in my head, going in game to make them is a great satisfaction. I know there is much more to the game but you can't play the game without a Sim and that's where I get most inspired. The Sims 4 has the best CAS yet, I can only imagine what Sims 5 will be like. The developers have made it so easy to create really unique and diverse Sims.

Hate is a strong word, therefore I can't say I hate anything about The Sims 4, though I do feel like the game is lacking in some areas. A few of the packs I have bought feel a little empty or shallow. Realm of Magic was something I was waiting for, for a while. I ended up only playing with spellcasters for not even that long before I got bored. There are definitely a lot of things that can be improved in The Sims 4.

We need better, more in depth personalities. Something that makes our Sims different from one another. The traits don't do all that much for a Sim, I'd say focus less on the emotions and focus more on the traits, that's where it really adds a uniqueness to your Sim's personality. It would also be nice to have everything that is expected in a pack, rather than having to buy another for the certain thing you wanted. The game could do with more little details added like the previous versions, such as interesting NPC's like Mrs Crumplebottom in the Sims 2.  I live for playing with occult Sims, so more occults, please!  We still need werewvoles, fairies, etc. Cars is another thing a lot of Simmers want, just like in Sims 2, there was no open world but our Sims could still own a car. We need that! Another thing I'd like to see added in, is an attraction system like in Sims 2 and 3. It's fun to have your Sim decide who they do and don't find attractive!

I'm all for The Sims 5, but The Sims 4 still need a lot of work before they release the next. I'm hoping for more realistic graphics in The Sims 5, not too realistic though, slightly better and less cartoony than Sims 4. I hope the personalities are more detailed and a colour wheel would be nice to be able to create our own colour swatches. To have an open world again like in The Sims 3, that would be great for us Simmers not having to wait with the loading screens when our Sims visit somewhere. If The Sims 5 were to come out next week, I'm ready for it because I can never say no to a Sims game.

The Simming community is so  welcoming and accepting of each other. Of course there is a lot of negative stuff going around, there are sometimes bad days with drama, but that doesn't outweigh the kindness I've seen from fellow Simmers. I've made so many great friends online friends, I'd encourage any Simmers that aren't already part of the online community to join. I started out in the Sims community on the forums around 7 years ago, where I've participated in Sims modelling and Sims reality shows. You should definitely head over to the forums and check these out. They are great fun!  Fellow Simmers can find me on Twitter @KittySophMeow
